Ms. Fathimath Dhiyana becomes the First Female Deputy Commissioner




On February 15, 2024, President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu appointed Fathimath Dhiyana as the Deputy Commissioner of Customs. In a ceremony held at the Customs Building on February 18, 2024, Commissioner General of Customs Yoosuf Maniu presented her with her rank insignia.


Fathimath Dhiyana has made history as the first female Deputy Commissioner in the 133-year history of Customs. With 23 years of service at the Maldives Customs Service, she most recently held the position of Deputy Chief Superintendent.


President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu's appointment of Fathimath Dhiyana marks a significant stride toward gender equality and empowerment within law enforcement agencies. In her new role, she joins Deputy Commissioners Abdulla Waheed and Mahmood Riyaz.
