Export increases by 13% in September




The FOB value of goods exported during last September showed an increase of 13% to that of the same period last year, which is an increase from MVR 141 million in August 2016 to MVR 160 million in September 2017. The largest quantity of the exports was to Thailand which is 31% of the total exports for the month of September.

The total revenue collected through customs duty and other fees and fines during September 2017 showed an increase of 6% compared to that of September 2016. A total of MVR 216 million was collected through Customs duty last month.

The CIF value of goods imported during September increased by 10% compared to September last year. Approximately MVR 2.7 billion worth of goods were imported during September 2016, whereas this year the figure was recorded at MVR 3 billion. Among the top importing countries, United Arab Emirates recorded the highest with 23% and India at the second with 13%.
