Customs has confiscated drugs that were attempted to be imported into the country through postal service.

The items were seized on August 14, 2023, during an inspection of a package sent from the Netherlands via post. Customs became suspicious that drugs were hidden inside the package and conducted further checks. When the suspected drugs found in the package were initially analyzed, they tested positive for Mephedrone. The total weight of these items, including packaging, was 480.10 grams.

For further investigation of this case, the seized drugs have now been handed over to the Maldives Police Service.
